Michael's Technical Theater Page
I discovered my love for theater late in highschool and then when I
worked at a local Summer Stock Professional theater called The Merry-Go-Round
Playhouse.
We did four shows that summer: Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really
Reflect Up?, Show Boat, Guys and Dolls, and The Will
Roger's Follies. Of the four shows Will Roger's Follies was
my favorite.
The last summer season I worked there we did: A Chorus Line,
How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, Sweet Charity,
and Crazy for You. You can see my pictures of those shows on my
MGR Playhouse
page. The only show I got tired of over the summer was Sweet Charity,
and Crazy for You had to have been my favorite, and still remains
one of my all time favorite shows.
I'm currently involved in the Robert
F. Panara Theatre located at the National Technical Institute for the
Deaf which is located here on campus. Through my interest in the theater
I became interested in Deaf culture and have been learning American Sign
Language in order to play a bigger role in the theater as well as meet
new people and make new friends.
Having had some taste of other theaters and what other equipment is
out there to work with I have developed a desire to get more into those
areas. Unfortunately it is difficult to do so unless you have at least
majored in Theater, though I'm told if you are good you can get in anyway.
I am not in a theater major, instead I chose Printing Management. I
enjoy printing very much, but friends of mine point out that I get this
sparkle in my eye when I talk about theater that I don't get with anything
else. Ideally I would like to get out of school and do theater for a while.
When I get tired of it or can't find a job then I will have my theater
degree to fall back on. Unfortunately the printing world is moving very
quickly into high technology, and while I will know it when I get out of
school I won't be able to afford not to keep up with it. This poses a big
problem for me and I haven't found a solution yet.
I have been making an effort to see major productions by other companies
whenever possible. To date I have seen (In no particular order):
